Bäst
Bäst is a New York Based street artist whose humourous wheat-pasted images feature across the urban landscapes of New York and Europe. Little is known of the artist himself who has managed to maintain a mysterious identity; however his work has gained increased popularity and status.
Bäst’s work is an eclectic mesh of pop culture and guerrilla warfare. He uses a montage of Disney and Warner Bros. characters with images of violent weaponry and cocktails, creating witty storylines that give his own spin on American culture. The artist often uses supermarket sale signs as his canvas, silk-screening devilish versions of iconic cartoons with tongue-in-cheek text, appropriating imagery from various media to offer a fresh take on punk art. He also incorporates 3 dimensional found objects into his work to create weaponry and embellishments for his characters.
